ColorVu and LPR: buy them for a reason
Both are easy to sell. Both waste money if the scene is wrong.
Use full-colour night cameras when
You need a face or clothing colour at a dark gate or lane. There is almost no existing light. A normal IR camera would only give you a white blob.
Skip them when
The porch already has a bright lamp. You only need to know that someone moved. Budget is better spent on a second angle or a larger disk.
Use LPR when
A known list of cars should open a barrier. You have a straight, well-lit approach. Staff are tired of handing cards. We have done this at Reveria and Gala Residences.
LPR struggles in Sarawak when
Heavy rain on the lens. Motorcycles and cars mixed at an angle. A camera too high or too close. Dirty plates. If the approach is a tight porch, a card or QR reader is more honest.
False alerts
Person/vehicle analytics (AcuSense-class) cuts rain and leaf noise. It does not replace a correct angle. Fix the view first.
