Film or a new panel
Smart film can be applied to suitable existing glass. A new smart glass panel is considered when glass is being replaced or built in. The site survey decides which fits.

What is smart film glass?
A switchable film or glass layer that turns a pane from clear to frosted when the control is used. It gives privacy without curtains or blinds while still letting light through.
Can smart film go on my existing windows?
Often on suitable flat glass, but not on every pane. The glass type, its condition, the frame and the route for power are checked before film is recommended. Some glass is better replaced with a smart glass panel.
Is the glass clear or frosted when the power is off?
Many switchable films are frosted when switched off and clear when powered, but the behaviour depends on the product chosen. HJ confirms it before the quotation so the glass behaves as you expect.
Can I control it from my phone or with other smart home devices?
Where the chosen control and system support it, yes. A wall switch or remote is the simplest option. Phone app, smart home scene and schedule are added when agreed.
Will it help with heat or glare?
Smart film is chosen for privacy. If heat or glare is your main concern, say so during the survey. Blinds, curtains or other glass treatments may suit better.
Do you offer a free site survey?
Yes. Site surveys for new installations are free. After the survey HJ confirms the scope and the quotation.
